LAHORE Pakistan tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi believes that he is in his best form of his career and the encouragement he has received from the fans and the countrymen on his recent achievement, it would surely give him confidence to win a major event in the coming days. Talking in a Waqt Television programme 'Game Beat with hosts Hafiz Imran and international hockey player Rabia, Pakistan tennis ace pointed out that the year 2010 is pone of the golden years of his career in which he won his first ATP title, reached four finals, moved to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon Tennis Championships and the finals of the US Open. With the prayers of fans and love, I have got enough encouragement to win a major event soon, he said. Aisam in his first television interview after his arrival from New York where he reached the mens doubles and mixed doubles finals of the US Open, said that since the start of the current year, his world ranking had improved a lot and was improving further. He said that his next target was Air and Masters Tournament in which eight top players and teams of the worlds take part. Aisam, who still believes to be a 20-year-old boy, is very fit now than he was then and would go another five to six years on international circuit. I have always tried to represent in all the multi-sport events like Commonwealth Games and Davis Cup, he said. He also praised his doubles partner Rohan Bopanna and said that he was an experienced player with having better ranking and I would continue to play with him. He also said that it was not the reason that he played for better ranking or money, it was, in fact, the passion to do something for the country and give the nation a time to cheer during this time of gloom, the match-fixing allegations have brought. I am really happy to bring this happiness for the country which is obsessed to cricket. I was fully determined and this was for the first time when tennis has replaced cricket in giving joy to the nation, he added. Aisam said that he had visited the whole world and felt that there was a wrong conception surrounding all over about the Pakistanis as terrorists and at the US Open, he said: I felt it pertinent to express the feelings of the people of Pakistan and peace and Allah Almighty gave me this opportunity to speak in front of 20,000 people and hundreds of live televisions. Such an opportunities hardly come by and I availed it for the sake of Pakistan. I was not expecting such a warm welcome on my return and I dont have words to explain my feelings. It was like I returned as a victor from the US Open. The reception I have received is the biggest than all the honours I have ever enjoyed, he said.
