LAHORE: The Government College University Lahore Fine Arts Department Wednesday organised a calligraphy painting exhibition at Minhas Art Gallery.

GCU Vice Chancellor Dr Khaleequr Rahman inaugurated the exhibition featuring 22 masterpieces of eminent artist Munawar Islam. Speaking on the occasion, the VC appreciated the work of the artist, saying that GCU wished to keep the unique art of calligraphy alive as it was a very effective tool to spread the message of Islam.

Talking to media, Munawar Islam said that art was his first love and passion which he had inherited from his father, who had been, without doubt, a giant of classical calligraphy.

He said he loved variations and knew no boundaries in the realm of colors. Later, Munawar presented a painting his best art work in the honor to Vice Chancellor. The exhibition will remain open until October 3.–Staff Reporter
