PESHAWAR - Two terrorists were killed and two personnel of security forces were injured in an exchange of fire in North Waziristan Agency on Wednesday.

Sources said the clash erupted in Datakhel Tehsil of the agency when armed militants stormed a checkpost of the security forces. As a result of intense firing, the security forces repulsed the attack of militants and killed two terrorists in the gunbattle.

The injured security personnel were rushed to Agency Headquarters Hospital for emergency treatment.

“The militants had launched a huge attack on the Khar Qamar checkpost at night and after a gunbattle of about half an hour, the attack was repulsed during which two militants were killed,” an Inter Services Public Service Relations (ISPR) officer confirmed.

Meanwhile curfew was imposed on Bannu-Miranshah road for an indefinite period after the attack and security forces were carrying out a search operation in the area.

Meanwhile, a house was partially damaged in a hand grenade attack by unknown persons in Hayatabad area late Tuesday night.

The owners of the house Noman informed the police that few days back, unknown persons demanded extortion from him and after refusal the criminal warned him for attacking his house.

He said on Tuesday night unknown persons damaged his house with a hand grenade attack. Police have registered an FIR and started investigation.
