Rawalpindi - Four unknown dacoits snatched gold ornaments from a family at gunpoint in broad daylight when their car was intercepted near Dheri Chowk yesterday. The dacoits managed escape from the scene after committing the crime.

According to details, a citizen namely Abid, resident of Deghal, was going towards home in his car along with his wife, sister-in-law, mother-in-law and sister when four dacoits riding on two motorcycles intercepted them near Dheri Chowk at 4pm. They snatched 2 gold bracelets, 6 ear rings and rings from the ladies at gunpoint and also pulled out key of the car aimed to avoid being chased by the victim family. Interestingly, one out of four dacoits remained busy in controlling traffic during dacoity. After robbing the family, the four dacoits managed escape from crime scene. On complaint, Station House Officer Police Station Civil Line and other officials rushed to the scene and collected evidences. Police also obtained CCTV footage of the incident and started investigation. A case was registered against the dacoits on complaint of Abid, the victim family head.

The daylight dacoity created panic among traders and locals as they protested against the police for not providing them security.  The locals appealed to Regional Police Officer Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja and City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi to take action against high-ups of Potohar Division who had failed in controlling street crimes.
