VEHARI-The Pakistan Kissan Ittehad (PKI) declared to stage a demonstration in front of Mepco Vehari office against overcharging farmers in electricity bills here on Monday (today).
According to the PKI spokesman Amjad Chaudhry, thousands of farmers from across the district would join the rally that would be led by PKI district vice president Ch Abdul Ghani.
Amjad Ch informed the media that the PKI had a meeting with Mepco SE Mian Ashfaq in which the SE was requested for early resolution of their problems but he did not pay heed to the matter.
When contacted, Mepco SE Mian Ashfaq said that the Mepco officials are taking effective steps to resolve the farmers’ problems. He, however, showed ignorance about the today protest.
