SWABI - Anjuman-i-Tajiran Swabi City have announced here on Sunday that they would observe a complete shutter down strike from Wednesday in the district headquarter against imposition of unjust fines on local traders.

The district business community has held their four hours long gathering at Swabi Adda Mosque, discussing their confronting problems. The meeting was presided over by its President Laiq Khan.

Views of the participants in the gathering has made it clear that the traders and administration are at loggerheads and if a negotiated settlement was not found by the two parties then the situation might turn dangerous.

Laiq told media that they have taken a unanimous decision and all the markets in the district headquarter would remain closed as a protest from Wednesday.

“I could right now predict that no one would open shop. This is our determination and collective decision, made in the meeting,” he said.

In reply to a question, he said that the strike would continue till meeting of their demand, giving up the practice of alleged unjust fines.

He said that prices of some commodities like rice, pulses and others have been increased, but officials did not issue them the reviewed price list despite the fact that they have submitted their application.

Answering another question he said that not only the markets would remain completely closed but the public and private transport would also not be allowed to pass through Karnal Sher Khan Chowk.

Karnal Sher Khan Chowk is situated at junction point and the transport of Swabi-Mardan, Swabi-Topi, Swabi-Maneri and Swabi-Buner road pass through it. Liaq remarked.

“We want stoppage of unjust fine practice completely, otherwise the strike would continue for unlimited period,” he said.
