SAHIWAL-A tough competition is expected between the PML-N and PTI candidates as all arrangements have been finalised for polling in the by-election to NA-162 on Monday (today).

The candidates taking part in the contest are Tufail Jutt (PML-N), Rai Murtaza Iqbal (PTI) and Shehzad Cheema (PPP) besides three independent candidates including Mian Abdul Jabbar Rabbani and Raja Inamul Haq Abbasi. The election campaign carried out by the political parties show that both the PML-N and PTI are trying hard to win the by-election at all cost while the PPP and three independent candidates can also make their presence feel. The Election Commission of Pakistan has arranged the schedule of polling while the district administration has announced a holiday in the district. Police and Army jawans have been deployed in the constituency who will perform duty inside and outside of 293 polling stations. 22 of the polling stations have been declared as sensitive where security has been beefed up.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan, there are 306,359 registered voters in the constituency of which 174,278 are men and 132,081 are women.

FOUR COPS SUSPENDED

Four officials of the Elite Force including Zafar Ullah, Hafiz Saleem, Zafar Ahmad and Mukhtar Ahmad have been suspended for abusing the officials of intelligence agencies at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) conference at Rai Zafar stadium in Chichawatni.
