KARACHI - Violence erupted in Gulistan-e-Johar area, following the killing of a worker of Awami National Party (ANP) here within the jurisdiction of Shahra-e-Fasial late night Saturday. As per details, the ANP activist, Shah Rukh 27, son of Atiq Rasool, was abducted from the area and later shot dead by unknown culprits in Pehlwan Goth area. While quoting the statements of the eyewitnesses, the area police told that the deceased was sitting at a restaurant, Al Shams Apartment, in Pehlwan Goth when some suspects, in a car and few on motorcycles, attacked him and succeeded in his abduction. After half and hour, his body was found just few steps away from the said spot and rushed to the hospital for the legal formalities. Later, it was handed over to his family after legal formalities. The deceased hailed from Noshero. His body was sent to his hometown where area people offered his funeral prayer. The violence aroused across Gulistan-e-Johar area soon following the news of his killing and the angry mob started protest against the target killing. Meanwhile, some miscreants pelted with stones on passing vehicles and forced the shops and hotels owners to shutdown their business activities. Some of them also conducted aerial firing in the area with the result that tremendous panic spread in the entire locality. During the violence, as many as nine vehicles have been set ablaze and a person was killed near Phelwan Goth in Gulistan-e-Johar block 18 and 19 areas. At least two pedestrians namely Shafiq and Riaz received bullet injuries and were shifted to the hospital, while a resident of Gulistan-e-Johar, Mohammad Saleem 45, died of heart attack due to fear and panic. Meanwhile, two rival groups also targeted each other, resultantly panic sparked as some unknown miscreants opened fire on traffic, said the police official.
