LAHORE PML-N Senior Vice President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has said that the 18th constitutional amendment is not something ideal and it has flaws and weak points. He was speaking at the annual prize distribution ceremony of Tameer-e-Seerat College held at Mansoora on Monday. Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Liaquat Baloch, cricketers Mushtaq Ahmed and Zulqarnain besides Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha also addressed the ceremony. Javed Hashmi accused the US of destabilising Pakistan from Afghanistan. He said the US war on terror could be termed a crusade. The US and Europe knew that Pakistan was a nuclear state which could play a leading role in the propagation of Islam at this juncture. He said the Quran and the Sunnah provided a complete law. He said the present economic and political crisis was the outcome of corruption and incompetence of the political leadership otherwise there was no dearth of resources in the country and Pakistan could become one of the richest countries of the world. He called for accountability of the political parties to set the things right. Liaqat Baloch said the ruling class in the country has turned a slave of foreign powers because of its weaknesses and was bent upon converting the Islamic state into a secular one but the overwhelming majority of the people were committed to Islam and would never compromise on that. He said the civil and military leadership had pushed the country into a political and economic quagmire. The present political leadership had ruined national economy and the rulers were going about all over the world begging for dollars to improve the countrys infrastructure for health and education, he added. He said the countrys future was in the youths hands who should march forward with courage and firm resolve to be able to face their responsibilities in the days ahead.
