LAHROE Pakistan Film Exhibitors Association (PFEA) has demanded of the Punjab government to exempt cinemas from entertainment tax. Chairman PFEA Zuraiz Lashari said in a press briefing here Monday that government wanted to 'kill film industry with 65 per cent tax. He said CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif formed a committee including Parvez Rashid, Farha Adiba, Secretary Information and Secretary Excise respectively in July 2009 to prepare proposals for the revival of Pakistan film industry but the committee had proposed tax on cinemas. Chairman also demanded Excise and Taxation Department not to collect entertainment tax from July 2009, as they had not received the same from the viewers. He called upon the excise and taxation department to talk with the association to know their problems and find a way-out.
