ISLAMABAD The 19th National Seniors and Junior Karate Championships will kick off from Tuesday (today) here Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex. All the affiliated units with Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF) including WAPDA, Army, Railways, Police, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtoonkawa, Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) and Islamabad are participating in the national karate showpieces. The opening ceremony will be held at 11-00am and Syed Amir Hamza Gilani, Director General Pakistan Sports Board will grace the occasion as a chief guest. Preliminary and finals of the individual kata, team kata, above 84 Kg, below 84 Kg, below 75 Kg, below 67 Kg and below 60 Kg will be held today. WAPDA will defend its title. PKF will select the players for camp on their performance of this championship. Also, Referee/Judges courses will also be taken place at Liaquat Gymnasium, Islamabad. Around 40 referees are participating in the course. Nasim Ahmad Qureshi and Muhammad Bashir Butt are the course directors.
