Lahore Whites win 12th National Seniors Cup

LAHORE Lahore Whites won the 12th National Seniors Cup for the sixth time beating Karachi Reds by 25 runs at the Diamond Cricket Ground Islamabad. Karachi Reds won the toss and put Lahore Whites into bat. Lahore Whites scored a huge total of 305 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 30 overs. Aleem Dar, the ICC Elite Umpire was the hero of the day. Aleem scored 102 runs in only 58 balls. His innings included nine huge sixes and four boundaries. Ameer Akber scored 48 in 28 balls with eight fours and skipper Ghaffar Kazmi scored 43 runs in 30 balls with six fours. For Karachi Reds Nasarullah and Yahya Toor took two wickets each for 61 and 69 runs respectively. Batting second, Karachi Reds also played brilliantly and scored 280 runs for the loss of six wickets and lost the match by 25 runs. For Karachi Reds Skipper Asim Jah was the top scorer with 67 runs scored in only 46 balls with two sixes and eight fours. Nadeem Sheikh scored 63 runs in 47 balls with two sixes and nine fours and Mahmood Hamid scored 42 runs in only 19 balls with three sixes and three fours. For Lahore Whites Rauf Wyen and Naveed Anjum got two wickets each for 34 and 38 runs respectively. Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Munir Hafiez was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. Also present were Mr. Fawad Ijaz Khan Chairman and Mr. Ashiq Qureshi CEO of PVCA. The Lahore Whites Team took the Trophy and winning prize of Rs. 150,000.00 and Karachi Reds took the Trophy and prize of Rs. 75,000.00. Aleem Dar was declared Man of the Final (Rs. 10,000), Mr. Asim Jah Best Batsman (Rs. 5,000) and Mr. Nasarullah Best Bowler (Rs. 5,000). P.V.C.A. gave check of Rs. 100,000 to Lahore Whites Player Muhammad Riaz as a Beneficiary.
