FAISALABAD The building of Civil Lines Police Station collapsed here in the wee hours of Tuesday when the seized explosives kept inside the station went off with a bang injuring a constable. Three rooms of the said police station were destroyed. CPO Dr Usman Anwar, SP Lyallpur Town and other senior police officers rushed o the spot. Rescue 1122 team also reached the spot and cleared the building. Civil Lines police said that they were having explosive material in their possession recovered from the accused Usman alias Sunny, one of the main suspect of Faisalabad bomb blast. Police said this explosive material as a result of short circuiting in the wee hours of Tuesday at about 2:20 am blasted injuring a constable Zahoor Ahmad and collapsing three rooms of the police station and a store and ladies police room. The injured cop was shifted to the hospital and later discharged after first aid given by the doctors. Police said a few number of cops were present at the police station at the time of blast otherwise the incident could have caused loss of precious lives and more injuries. The Civil Lines Police Station is one of the oldest police stations of the city and police sources said most of its parts were constructed during British rule in the Sub-continent. The walls of the police station are bricked with mud not with cement.
