KARACHI - Commissioner Roshan Ali Shaikh, on Thursday ordered immediate closure of all illegal water hydrants in the Korangi industrial area.

Chairing a meeting of industrialists at the office of Korangi Association of Traders and Industrialists, he said strict action would be taken against land grabbers, encroachers, extortionists and those responsible for creating law and order situation in the area. “It is the responsibility of the government, of which the city administration is a part to ensure industrial development with due consideration.”

Shaikh reiterated his commitment to protect industrialists from extortionists and different mafias reportedly active in the area.

The commissioner assured the KATI members that water hydrants depriving genuine consumers will be closed.

He suggested to the KATI members to prepare a master plan for making the area attractive enough for foreign investors and business companies. He assured them to provide all relevant technical assistance and support.

The commissioner also urged the KATI members to realise their responsibility and contribute towards elimination of air, noise, and sea pollution through strict compliance of environmental standards. After listening to the grievances of traders and industrialists, he said all their problems would be solved by the city administration on priority basis.
