ISLAMABAD – Akira Goto, Second Secretary and Grants Advisor of the Embassy of Japan Thursday, paid a visit to the Pakistan Post Headquarters.

On the occasion, Fazli Sattar Khan, Additional Director General (Operations), briefed the diplomat on the functioning and working of the Pakistan Post. Matters of mutual interest between Pakistan Post and Japan Post were also discussed in the meeting, says a press release issued here on Thursday.

The Pakistan Post has appreciated the Government of Japan for its erstwhile grant, starting a pilot project of automation and computerization of postal counters at Islamabad GPO, which has already been completed. Akira assured Pakistan Post of continued support in future too, including through JICA activities and grants to Pakistan Post.

The matter regarding issuance of a special stamp on 60 years of diplomatic relations was also discussed in the meeting.

Akira Goto also asked for support of Pakistan Post for the elections to the seats of Postal Operations Council and Council of Administration in the forthcoming Universal Postal Union Congress to be held in Doha, Qatar. Akira also paid a courtesy call on the Director General of Pakistan Post Syed Ghulam Panjtan Rizvi and had a useful discussion on matters of mutual interests.
