All set for wheat procurement in DG Khan

DERA GHAZI KHAN -All arrangements have been finalized for the procurement of wheat in the four districts of Dera Ghazi Khan Division with 15 percent increased target as compared with the previous year.
In a statement issued here, Deputy Director Food Shabbir Ahmed Alvi said that as many 474,000 metric tonnes of wheat would be procured from April 25, adding that distribution of gunny bags would be started from Monday (today).
He said that apart from the regular rate of Rs1,300 per 40-kg, the farmers would also be paid transportation charges. He said that 44 procurement centres had been established across the division to facilitate the growers while procurement committees comprising farmers and public representatives had also been set up.
He also claimed that there would be no role of the middleman in the procurement and wheat would be directly purchased from the farmers. He informed that nine procurement centres had been set up in Dera Ghazi Khan district wherein 96,000 metric tonnes wheat would be purchased.
