Class-IV employees held a protest demonstration in front of the office of District Education Officer demanding upgradation of their basic pay scale and other facilities, besides threatening province-wide protest if their demands were not accepted.
The rally started from Secretariat Road and passing through various bazaars and roads ended at DEO Office Road where they held a sit-in. The staff was carrying placards and banners inscribed with their demands. The public meeting and procession was led by Muhammad Qasim Khan, the president of Class-IV staff of Chitral.
A unanimous resolution was passed during the public meeting through which they demanded up-gradation of all the class-IV staff working in the province to basic pay scale 5. They flayed 24-hour duties in Education Department by staff and demanded recruitment of 2 watchmen in every school so as to reduce their duty hour.
They demanded implementation of 33% promotion quota in all the government departments and for preparation of seniority list so as to promote class four staff according to the rules and regulations.
They also demanded the implementing of 25pc quota in recruitment for sons of retired staff; and provision of rifle to watchman for protection; and construction of rooms for them.
They vowed to continue strike till the fulfillment of their demands. They pointed out that the government had announced their upgradation for five times but nothing was done in practical. They also announced to join protest rally on provincial level at Peshawar on April 28.
