PTI women MPAs reject allegations of selling votes

PESHAWAR - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf women members of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly refuted the allegations levelled against them by the party to have sold their votes in Senate elections and demanded the party leadership to refer the case to National Accountability Bureau to probe the matter.

Speaking at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, PTI MPA from Chitral, Fauzia Bibi, said that after the Senate elections, some elements within the PTI were hatching conspiracies against her and were involved in her character assassination. She explained that some online newspapers were airing news that had tarnished her image and she was intending to serve them legal notices.

She alleged that Chief Minister Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and his cronies for their face saving had ensnared her in the plot. These allegations have not only weakened my political position, but have also brought a bad name to my family, she lamented.

Besides, she said that a show cause notice should have been served to a member by party leadership so that they should have been given a chance to explain their position.

Meanwhile, Meraj Humayun during a separate press conference rejected the accusation of selling vote in Senate polls, saying that PTI Chairman Imran Khan had mentioned her name at a press conference about those 20 lawmakers, who had allegedly sold out their votes in Senate polls, which, she said, not only damaged her political image, but also shocked her family members and friends.

“I joined the PTI after Senate elections, so it had no right to put such allegation against me as I was not bound to poll my vote to the PTI candidate”, she added.

She questioned that her name was put in the PTI panel for the Senate polls on which basis, adding that she had asked chief minister Pervez Khattak that why he had included her name in the panel. She said that she had given vote to PTI candidate due to alliance between PTI and QWP in the Senate polls. I did not vote for the QWP candidate Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli but for the PTI candidate, she said.

Miraj Hamayun further said that it was against the law to announce decision without listening to the accused. She said that at least PTI leadership should have summoned her and if she had failed to satisfy the party, then it had the right to take action against her. She said that despite having vast experience, the chief minister done injustice to her. She also said that she would decide the future line of action after receiving show cause notice from the party.
