LAHORE - The Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned CCPO Lahore, TMO Data Gunj Bakhsh Town and District Officer SWM department of City District Government Lahore (CDGL) for today (Friday) in a petition against encroachments at Turner Road near LHC. Justice Hafiz Abdur Rehman Ansari passed this order while hearing a petition filed by Alamgir Khan advocate. The petitioner-lawyer contended that Turner Road was full of encroachments despite being a sensitive area of the City due to presence of the Lahore High court in the proximity. He pointed out that the encroachment would be a big obstacle in handling any untoward incident of terrorism in the area. The lawyers and general public coming to LHC or lawyers chambers by passing through Turner Road face a lot of difficulties due to blockage of almost of 50 per cent of the road. The illegal car parking, makeshift shops, and paddlers are seen occupying the areas all around the LHC, the counsel said. The petitioner stated that Data Gunj Bakhsh Town always launched half-hearted anti-encroachment drives but operations against encroachers were dropped without clearing the whole mess in the area. Alamgir said sensitivity of the issue had been brought in notice of City police also but police also did not take any action against the encroachers who were blocking all ways to the LHC. The judge taking serious notice of the matter ordered CCPO Lahore, TMO Data Gunj Bakhsh Town and DO (SWM) to appear in his court on today (Friday).
