ISLAMABAD (Online) Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and German Chancellor Angela Merkel telephoned Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday and expressed grief over loss of lives and destruction caused by the flood due to torrential monsoon rains in Pakistan. According to diplomatic sources, the Indian PM condoled over the loss of lives and destruction caused by the floods and said that India is with Pakistan in its time of need. He said we had offered Pakistan $ 5 million aid and we are willing to provide more aid. Manmohan Singh told PM that he would urge all the South Asian countries to help the millions of Pakistanis who have been displaced. Gilani thanked Indian PM for his call and for expressing condolence with the Pakistani nation. PM also briefed his Indian counterpart on the destruction caused by the massive floods. He also thanked the Indian Premier for his offer of $ 5 million aid. Germen Chancellor Angela Merkel also telephoned PM to express grief over disaster caused by the flood. Merkel assured support for flood victims and said that Germany would stand by the people of Pakistan in their hour of need.
