ISLAMABAD In a bid to ensure transparency in distribution of assistance, names of the members of National Oversight Disaster Management Council (NODMC) would be finalised within one or two days. Eminent personalities of good reputation from different walks of life would be included in the council, said Minister for Information Qamar Zaman Kaira, addressing a press conference held after the National Disaster Management Commission (NDMC) meeting. Minister said that they were waiting for names of eminent personalities from the provinces while provinces have been asked for names. Talking about modus operandi of the council, Minister said that the council would ensure distribution in a transparent manner ignoring any discrimination. No stone will be left unturned to ensure transparency, Minister said informing that the federal and provincial authorities would work out modalities of efficient utilisation of funds through the NODMC. To a question, Minister said that the meeting will be held to take stock of the relief and rescue operations in affected areas. He said that efforts were underway to provide rescue, relief and rehabilitation to all affectees. Talking about NODMC meeting, he said that during a meeting Indian Prime Minister, German Chancellor and Maldives president telephoned the Prime Minister and expressed their sympathies. They also ensured assistance to the government of Pakistan, he said. To yet another question, Minister said that local donors have donated about Rs. 1.586 billion in Prime Ministers relief funds He said that the government would give Rs 20,000 to each displaced family on their return. Kaira said that government would also start registration of floods affected persons in the country.
