DERA ISMAIL KHAN - Jammiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman has expressed concern over the performance of the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee and suggested restricting it and amendments in its scope.
Talking to media persons after leading Eidul Fitr prayer in his native village Abdul Khel here on Sunday, Fazlur Rehman said that the committee’s performance was not up to the mark and it needed to be restructured to reduce possibilities of confrontation, particularly on sighting of moon between various sects and the provinces.
The JUI-F chief urged the parliamentarian to transact legislation over the issue to resolve it once and for all. He blamed that there was differences within the Reut-i-Hilal committee. How could a body that is itself divide could lead to a right decision, he questioned.
He said that Ruet-i-Hilal committee should be one robust institution, since it was related to an issue that affected all the Muslim communities of the country.
