TANK - The residents of Tank have expressed their concern over skyrocketing price hike, besides artificial shortage of various kitchen items in the market, a survey by this scribe revealed.

In the absence of proper monitoring and checking by the district price control committee as well as the district administration various grocery, kitchen items have been increased.

As the Eid-ul-Fitr is approaching nearer various commodities are being sold by the shopkeepers at the rates of their own choices, while the local administration is not bothered to visit the market and inquire about the deplorable situation.

The residents also complained against the substandard quality of the flour available at subsidised rate on Utility Stores.

Azam Jan a local complained that it was quite surprising that majority of traders had not displayed price lists in their shops, which multiplied miseries of the people. Eid shopping activities due to exorbitant price-hike could get no considerable momentum, the survey revealed. However, main bazaar, Sadam shopping center and few other busy shopping malls remain open till late evening to facilitate Eid celebrators. Now majority of the buyers who belong to poor and lower middle class visit special sale stalls, which have been illuminated and decorated to attract the buyers.
