Addressing a hurriedly called press conference, JI chief Sirajul Haq warned that any unconstitutional step would be disastrous for the county.

"Army should play impartial role in this political unrest, judicial commission and electoral reforms committee give their report in a month and all political parties should resolve the issue amicably," he said.

He also opposed the idea of military intervention in the ongoing political crisis and asked that the whole issue should be left to politicians to resolve.

"In such situations, some people talk about martial law during democracy and some speak in favour of democracy during dictatorships," he added. The JI leader warned against the use of force against the protesters, saying that they do not want to see blood in the Red Zone.

"We are not in favor of sacrificing democracy," he said called upon the government and the other party to sit and find out a solution to the crisis.

"Now there is a need for dialogue to resolve the issue as use of force would not prove fruitful," he said adding that both the sides have not much time to pursue the path of dialogue for the sake of democracy.
