The shopkeepers of Pirmahal staged a protest on Rajana Road against delay in completion of the dual carriageway project.

They also blocked Rajana Road by setting ablaze tyres as protest and said that due to delay in completion of the road the locals had been facing numerous problems. They said that thousands of people travel through the under-construction road on daily basis and have to face hardships.

They said that Rs200 million were granted by the government for the construction of dual carriageway in the city but the contractor disappeared after laying crushed stone at the site. “We are worried at the slow pace of work on the road,” they said. They said that the contractor is attributing the delay to a dispute with Fesco authority over removal of electric poles from the road.

They announced that if the road was not completed within a week they would set up a protest camp outside the DCO office.
