LAHORE - PML-Q chief, Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain Wednesday said General Hameed Gull was an institution and he enjoyed prestige and popularity among people of all thoughts.

In a press statement issued from PML-Q headquarters in the provincial capital, Shujaat expressed these views while talking to media at the residence of late General Gull after offering fateha with his family. PML-Q Punjab president, Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi also accompanied him.

Shujaat said General Gull was an asset of the country but regretfully the government could not take get benefit of his capabilities on the issue of Afghanistan or Kashmir.

Gull could do a lot for facilitating talks with Taliban he had even access to late Mullah Omar.

Meanwhile, Shujaat Hussain and Pervaiz Elahi talking to the newsmen after offering fateh of Shaheed Punjab Home Minister Colonel (R) Shuja Khanzada said Punjab government has miserably failed in fighting terrorism.

They said Punjab Home Minister remained buried under debris for hours due to lack of emergency medical facilities and his nephew had to appeal to the Army Chief to save their former officer.

They said it was a matter of great concern and surprise that the provincial home minister did not have security like the family of the Chief Minister despite the fact he was on top of the hit list of terrorists.
