SWABI - Asad Qaisar, speaker of the National Assembly, said on Sunday that during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government in the centre, no compromise would be made on Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s share in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects.
Addressing PTI workers, supporters and leaders who had gathered to welcome him at his native village after assuming the charge of the office of National Assembly speaker, said during the last PTI government in KP, he had fought legal battle for KP share in CPEC and now when his party was in power in the centre, there would be no compromise on the people’s welfare.
Asad Qaisar was given a rousing welcome by PTI leaders and workers who received him at Swabi Interchange on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway.
The PTI leaders said that after Gohar Ayub, Asad had become the second leader from KP to achieve this milestone and honour.
He was brought to his native village in a big procession by the party workers and the area echoed with the slogans of Prime Minister Imran Khan Zindabad, ‘Tabdeeli Aye Hai’ and ‘Naya Pakistan Mubarak Ho’.
The PTI leaders and workers said that election of Asad and his nomination by Prime Minister Imran Khan was really a great honour for the district. “We feel proud over the contributions of Asad to the party. Now he is known as speaker in the district because he remained speaker of the KP Assembly during the PTI government in the province. No one calls him by his own name,” said Rangaiz Khan, MPA.
Addressing the gathering, Asad said that during the last PTI government in KP, he had fought legal battle for KP share in CPEC and now when their party has assumed power in the centre, there would be no compromise on people’s welfare.
“It was an honour to me that prime minister nominated me for the speaker’s slot. But actually it was an honour for Swabi too given by prime minister. I feel proud of that,” he said.
“Our youngsters are unemployed and jobless and the PTI government’s top priority would be to give jobs to the educated youth to exploit their potential and capabilities to contribute for the economic prosperity of the country,” he said.
“Giving jobs to the youth is the top priority of the PTI government. We want to adopt a result-oriented strategy for the youth,” he said. He said he had held meeting with Wapda officials and talked about power cuts. The load-shedding was not acceptable to the government, said Qaisar. He stated that officials told him about shortage of staff and financial constraints.
“We will meet the financial demand of the Wapda officials who are determined to deliver,” Qaisar said. He revealed that before his nomination for the speaker’s slot, when he met Imran, he told him that he was old party worker and contributed in difficult times.
“The prime minister offered me the president slot but I told him that I will continue work as a party worker,” he said. However, he did not explain that why he refused to accept president’s slot and why opted for the NA speaker’s position.
Qaisar lauded people’s efforts who voted the PTI to power. “Where I am today, it is due to your trust in me and I will never breach this trust,” he said.
He said the prime minister had attached great importance with KP because people of the province voted the PTI to power for the second time. He said incomplete projects in the district would be completed and new projects would be initiated soon.
