Shoe hurled at judge

SHEIKHUPURA - The Ferozewala Police on Saturday registered a case against seven lawyers on charges of abusing, misbehaving and throwing shoe towards Additional District and Sessions Judge in his court room.
The incident took place when ADSJ Mehmoodul Hassan Bhatti granted bail to a dacoity accused Kashif after hearing argument put forward by his counsel Advocate Liaqat Ali Cheema. counsel for the applicant Advocate Mian Ali Adil, however, opposed the judge decision "while terming it against the norms of justice and biased." The lawyer along with his six other colleagues allegedly started criticising the court verdict besides using derogatory remarks. One of the lawyer Mian Ali Adil allegedly "threw his shoe" at judge but he remained unhurt. Following the incident, the entire judiciary in Tehsil Ferozewala suspended routine work and held a meeting against the incident. The Ferozewala Police were directed to get registered a case under section 506/186/34 PPC and 7ATA against the lawyers.
RESTAURANTS, FOOD POINTS SEALED, FINED: The Health Department team accompanied by AC Dr Rabia Riasat sealed off and fined different restaurants, bakeries, BBQ and other food points in Jinnah Park areas on Saturday.
The raids were conducted as part of the ongoing campaign against the sale of unhygienic and substandard food items.
