Maj Gen Saeed takes charge as Sindh Rangers DG

KARACHI - Major General Mohammad Saeed on Monday assumed charge of his office as new chief of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh.

Major transfers and shuffling in military ranks began earlier this week.

The most significant changes came when former DG Rangers Sindh Bilal Akbar was posted as Chief of General Staff (CGS) after being promoted to Lt Gen rank.

Also, Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar was posted as the Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), replacing Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar.

Major transfers and postings came days after Gen Qamar Bajwa assumed charge as Chief of Army Staff.

Major General Muhammad Saeed, GOC 18 Infantry Division, Hyderabad, who was appointed as new DG Rangers Sindh about four days ago, assumed the charge of his office on Monday.

Major General Saeed has taken over as 13th DG Rangers, Sindh during a change of command ceremony held at Rangers Headquarters, Karachi.

On the occasion, DG Rangers Lt Gen Bilal Akbar handed over the Rangers flag to the new DG.

Lt Gen Akbar was posted to DG Rangers Sindh in 2014 while serving General Officer Commanding (GOC) in Lahore.

Lt General Akbar played a vital role in the Karachi operation.

Under his command, Rangers busted number of gangs of terrorists, gangsters as well as target killers and extortions, thus helping in restoring peace in the city.
