MULTAN- The activists of a student organisation staged a demonstration against Resident Officer of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) here outside campus gate on Monday. The workers of MSF (N) accused the RO of patronising a lingual organisation and demanded the Governor and the Punjab Chief Minister to take notice of the situation and direct the VC to remove the RO. The protesters carried out non-stop sloganeering against the RO.

RO Dr Muqarrab, however, rejected all allegations and said that some outsiders belonging to a student organisation tried to disrupt the academic activities at the campus but they failed due to timely intervention by the police. He said that cases have already been registered by the Alpa Police against the elements. He said that the outsiders tried to create chaos at the campus on the instigation of some BZU teachers, who are facing inquiries on different allegations. He said that strict action would be taken against the elements involved in creating law and order situation as an application has been lodged for registration of FIR against them. Talking to the journalists, MSF (N) BZU president Sheikh Zain said that the RO patronised Rana Students Organisation and got the workers of MSF arrested under a fake case. He claimed that the workers of Rana Students Organisation subjected MSF workers Ali and Assad to torture and then the RO got them arrested by the Alpa police.


The workers of All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Workers Union brought out a rally against a proposed referendum for the privatization of Wapda here on Monday. The rally begun from Nawan Shehr Chowk and ended at Multan Press Club, where the participants of the rally staged a sit-in. The protesters were led by the regional chairman of the Hydro Union Ch. Ghulam Rasol Gujjar and a large number of Wapda workers participated in it.

Speaking on this occasion, the speakers said that the Wapda workers would foil all conspiracies hatched by the government for the privatisation of the authority. They added that the rulers want to ruin Wapda on pattern of PTCL and Pakistan Steel but the Hydro union stood united and it would not let the workers deprive of their right.
