LAHORE - Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri on Tuesday set December 31st deadline for Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah to resign from their offices.
Talking to the media after chairing a meeting of representative delegations of traders and civil society, Dr Qadri threatened that he would give a final call for ouster of the government if his demands are not met by the set date.
“I will not tolerate any further delay in the dispensation of justice [in Model Town case]. This time, I will plan a decisive action [against the murderers] which will not be without results”, he warned, adding, that Punjab government was not taking his warnings seriously.
PAT chief stated that both Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif should bear in mind that they will have to be accounted for the massacre of innocent lives.
He said he would announce his future strategy after December 31st.
He maintained that Model Town operation was not an operation against encroachments but an operation to kill the innocent PAT workers.
He also criticised Mian Nawaz Sharif for his alleged tirade against the judiciary accusing him of being guilty of Constitutional treason.
Dr Qadri told reporters that the decision to kill the innocent people in Model Town was taken in a meeting held on June 16, 2014.
He said that Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Home Secretary and Personal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Dr Tauqeer Shah attended this meeting as representatives of Shehbaz Sharif.
“How could he (Chief Minister) dissociate himself from the decisions taken in that meeting”, he asked.
Earlier, former PPP Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Syed Mehdi Shah, head of JUP (Noorani group),Qari Muhammad Zawar Bahadur and head of Halqa-e-Saifia Pakistan, Sahibzada Pir Ahmad Yar Saifi called on PAT chief at his Model Town residence and assured their support for his cause.
