ISLAMABAD -The erstwhile coalition partners of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) have increased their contacts, once again, to make functional their religio-political group in national politics.

Most of the previous coalition partners including Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl), Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP), Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith and other have increased contacts, setting aside their old differences to emerge as ‘one voice’ again in the shape of MMA, a senior member of JUI-F shared with TheNation.

The major differences of two religio-political partners including JI and JUI-F came on surface after the non-functioning of MMA, which is largely believed that establishment was the main reason behind it.

As senior JUI-F member, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Maulana Ghafoor Haidri, had also in open words expressed that establishment was a big hurdle in way of restoration of MMA. When contacted, JUI-F spokesman Maulana Amjad said that almost all the previous partners of MMA have increased their contacts with one another for this purpose, as it has now become wish of all the religious parties. “Realising the importance of MMA, almost all the partners are in contact and now it is up to JI to take some more steps and gather all on one platform,” he maintained. JUI-F leader said that it had already been too late but now serious efforts are being made.

“JI, JUP, Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith and others are in contact to resolve the issue amicably,” he added.  It is relevant to mention here that the previous partners of MMA had recently convened an important meeting to discuss revival of MMA but they could not reach any consensus. Political pundits assumed that these religious parties would soon become ‘one voice’ to show their strength before the next elections in different political matters.
