LAHORE – Pakistan Psychiatric Society (PPS) former President and Prof Emeritus King Edward Medical University Prof Dr Khalida Tareen has said frustration was the major factor behind the increasing trend of suicide attempt in our society. Addressing a function on “Increasing trend of suicide attempt” Prof Khalida said that young generation has no direction and lacks purpose in life and negative attitude including aggression and suicide attempts were developing among them, says a press release. She said that educational institutions had failed to provide quality education and training, so dropout rate from schools and colleges was increasing. On the other side educated people were upset that they have no jobs. When our rulers were blatantly flouting the laws then common man does not feel obliged to conform to the laws of the country. She said it was unfortunate that our rulers have failed to provide good role models for the new generation.
