KARACHI - Another roadside bomb, carrying 12-kg explosives, was defused by the bomb disposal squad experts in Site Industrial Area on Wednesday.

The actual target of the culprits has yet to be ascertained.

Police suspected the bomb was planted to target the law enforcement agencies. Earlier, police party reached the site for snap checking when it found the suspicious packet. Police later called the BDS experts to defuse the bomb. Following the discovery of the bomb at Nauras Chowrangi, traffic was stopped by the law enforcers.

“The bomb was planted near a regular spot of police and rangers,” said DSP Sohrab Meo. “Fortunately, after stationing the mobile, one of our officers while inspecting the site found the bomb concealed in a concrete block.” However, the BDS experts later defused the bomb. According to experts, a uni-directional bomb was weighed around 12-kg including the ball bearings. A remote controlled device was attached with it. A case was registered against unidentified persons.

It is worth mentioning here that it was the third consecutive bomb attack foiled by the BDS experts.


Two people were killed in a targeted attack at an ice-cream parlor situated at Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

The Peshawari Ice Cream Parlor and Fast Foods is situated near Nipa Chowrangi in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Four armed men riding two motorcycles and opened indiscriminate fire at the ice-cream parlor, killing the owner Saifullah and his employee Quresh Wahid. Another employee Mir Nawab and a visitor woman Hina were wounded in the incident.

Saifullah was running his shop from the last 12 years in the area. The shops in the area remained close on Wednesday to mourn his death. Police ruled out the possibility of extortion as the shop owner neither received extortion chit nor demands before the attacks. Even the victims did not have any known enemies.
