The good news was that Gwadar port will be operational by April this year, when the first commercial ship will dock from there. For full development it is important that a free trade zone is established for national and international business centres. Such zones, with exemption of custom duty will give great incentives to the businessmen and industries for using this port for transportation it can become like Dubai which gained fame for being a duty free port. Furthermore completion of M8 by June will save 400 km distance for businessmen in cargo transit. This route will bypass Karachi and the shipping containers would go directly to the northern parts from Gwadar. This will certainly lower the cost of production for industries which is a promising sign. It is hoped that Government will not only continue its efforts for economic development but will also equally prioritise trickling down its benefits to the masses.
