Islamabad - Appreciating the services rendered by all the development partners for Technical &Vocational Education and Training (TVET) development in Pakistan, NAVTTC Executive Director Imtiaz Tajwar has said that TVET development can be achieved only through joint efforts with development partners.
He said this in his opening remarks while presiding over the Donors Coordination meeting here on Thursday.
He said that donors were basically development partners with NAVTTC and Government of Pakistan and their role is pivotal for the development of vocational technical and skill development in the country.
NAVTTC is an apex body at the federal level, mainly responsible for policy formulation, regulation, coordination, and facilitation of TVET sector across the country.
The donors who attended the meeting were from European Union, Germany, European Commission, Norway, Italy, ILO, British Council, World Bank and GIZ.
Tajwar stressed the need for resolving duplications with focus on reform based approach and linkage of donor interventions.
The meeting was also briefed about development of National TVET Policy and National Vocational Qualifications Framework (NVQF).
It is spearheading the TVET sector reform across the country through the TVET Reform Support Programme, which is funded by the European Union, Netherlands Embassy, Germany and Embassy of Norway and is implemented by the GIZ.
Main objective of this initiative is to improve access, equality, quality and relevance of the TVET system in Pakistan through a paradigm shift from content-based to competency-based training with active involvement of the private sector.
In 2011, NAVTTC formed a donors coordination forum with the aim to improve coordination ensure harmonization and develop synergies among the Development Partners supporting the TVET Sector.
It provides a platform for sharing experiences, building on each other’s strengths and to discuss issues and strategies to move forward.
Donor coordination meetings have provided the basis for Development Partners to develop synergies of their activities and to contribute to aid effectiveness.
