Tevta to recruit staff for its new institutes

LAHORE (PR): Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) will recruit 1000 teachers and other staff for its newly established institutes under Annual Development Program (ADP) across the province of the Punjab.

The said decision was taken in a Board meeting here at TEVTA Secretariat under the chairmanship of Irfan Qaiser Seikh.

Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that TEVTA Board has constituted a sub-committee to ensure transparency and merit in the recruitment process. The sub-committee included Nilofer Mehdi, Nilofer Sikandar, Hamid Malhi and representatives from industry and education department.

Chairperson TEVTA further said that Chief Minister Punjab has allowed the recruitment of new staff in order to meet the shortage of faculty in these Institutes. The new induction of teaching and other staff will give chance to dynamic and intelligent people to serve in the TVET sector. All the recruitment procedure will be fair and transparent. New induction will hopefully be completed during the year after following the laid down recruitment procedure, he concluded.

Wemsol launches Keenu

Bestway Cement records Rs8.9b profit

ISLAMABAD (PR): The Board of Directors at Bestway Cement has announced financial results for half-year from July to December, 2015. The company’s net turnover on a consolidated basis soared by 45.5 percent from Rs 14.5 billion to Rs 21.1 billion, says a press release.

Gross margin of Rs8.9 billion grew by more than 61.9 percent over the same period last year. Profit before tax for the period amounted to Rs 7.6 billion, showing an increase of 37 percent as compared to Rs 5.6 billion during the corresponding period ended 31 December, 2014. The company’s consolidated profit after tax also registered a growth of 47 percent to reach Rs 5.7 billion in the half-year against Rs 3.9 billion from the corresponding period of FY0214-15.

On a consolidated basis, domestic sales volume increased by 47% from 2.1 million tons to 3.1 million tons. Overall, dispatches by the industry increased by 6.3% during the reporting period to 18.2 million tons from 17.1 tons, while exports saw a decline of 26% from 4.1 million tons to 3.0 million tons in this period.

Training workshop for BOS IT staff

LAHORE (PR): To build the competence of IT staff of Bureau of Statistics (BOS) Punjab with an ultimate goal of enhancing the quality of official statistics, a two days training workshop on Structured Query Language (SQL) Basics was organized by GIZ (a federal German enterprise, specialized in the field of international cooperation).

The workshop was led by Sohaib Mahmood (an IT Expert from GIZ) in the premises of Bureau of Statistics (BOS) headquarters office Lahore. Sajid Rasul (Director BOS – Punjab) appreciated the efforts of GIZ and considered this activity a very useful capacity building measure taken by GIZ, and emphasized on the importance of such trainings to be held in the future as well.

GIZ on the behalf of Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Germany is supporting Pakistan in many different areas and one of its support programmers in Pakistan is related to bringing governance related reforms in the field of official statistics at federal and provincial level.
