islamabad - A local court yesterday gave an Indian citizen accused of holding a Pakistani National Identity Card into custody of the Federal Investigation Agency for five-das physical remand.

Senior civil judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakar remanded the accused Rustam Sidhwa into five days physical custody of FIA after accepting an application submitted by the agency. The FIA arrested him after his application for pre-arrest bail was rejected by a court in a case of obtaining a Pakistani NIC through fraudulent means.

It is stated that Sidhwa is the brother-in-law of Pakistani MNA Isphanyar Bhandara and had arrived in Pakistan in 1982 and obtained an NIC. An official of FIA said that the accused was arrested under the Foreigners Act. He said that MNA Isphanyar Bhandra is also a complainant against the accused.

Sidhwa had filed an application for pre-arrest bail in the court of special judge central Malik Nazeer, which was rejected, leading to his arrest.
