2 TTP militants eliminated

ISLAMABAD : Security forces Monday killed two Afghanistan-based Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants in Bajaur Agency during an intelligence-based operation.

A press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the security forces foiled a major terrorist attempt in the Federally-Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Islamabad by tracking down two suicide bombers during a search operation in Bajaur Agency along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

According to details, a successful intelligence based operation was conducted in Bajaur to track two suicide bombers entering from Afghanistan through Kagha pass in Bajaur Agency. The Afghanistan-based TTP terrorists were cordoned near Ghatkai Kaga, Bajaur Agency.

Suicide jacket, anti-tank mines, magnetic mines, prepared remote-controlled IEDs, remote-controlled receivers, detonators and communication equipment bearing Afghan mobile company signature were recovered from the suicide bombers.

The security forces’ search operation was launched at a tip-off that two suicide bombers had entered the region from across the border in an attempt to enter Khar Tehsil. During the search operation in the area, one of the suspected bombers opened fire on them. However, the security forces retaliated and killed one suicide bomber on the spot, while the other blew himself up.
