Nawaz used party account for money laundering: PTI

LAHORE - PTI’s Secretary Information Fawad Ch on Monday alleged that PML-N President Mian Nawaz Sharif had used his party account for money laundering.

Addressing a news conference at Chairman Secretariat here, he said that PML-N had established a party office in London before 2013 elections to do money laundering to the tune of billions of rupees in the name of party funding.

He was of view that all political parties were bound to declare their sources of funding before the Election Commission but the PML-N did not do the same. Fawad asserted that the affidavit about foreign funding should bear the signatures of Mian Nawaz Sharif.

“PTI has filed a petition in the court in this regard and if the decision comes on our favour, the PML-N would be out of the election race”, he predicted.

He also alleged that Zubair Gull who has now been awarded a Senate ticket headed the PML-N’s party office in London. “This person (Zubair Gull) is residing in London while a case is registered against him in Pakistan”, he averred.

He further alleged that anybody seeking a Senate ticket from the PML-N has to be a money launderer to qualify for the ticket.

Replying to a question, PTI’s spokesperson said that law must be amended before discussing judges’ conduct in the Parliament.

He said Nawaz Sharif was criticizing the court since he had no answer to satisfy the NAB for the ill-gotten money amounting to Rs 300 billion. He also asked PM Abbasi to advise Nawaz Sharif to correct his acts instead of criticizing the Supreme Court.
