Black gram certified seeds to be provided to growers at concessional rate

LAHORE (APP): To enhance yield of pulses, certified seeds of black gram (daal mash) will be provided to growers on concessional rate. According to Punjab Agriculture Department sources on Monday, those who possess 25 acres of cultivable land would be eligible for getting application form in this regard. Sources said the step had been taken on the direction of Punjab Cheif Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. Growers from Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Toba Tek Singh, Vehrai, Khanewal, Gujrat, Mandibahuddin, Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Multan, Sahiwal, Lodhran, Muzzafargarh, DG Khan, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, Chakwal and Faisalabad would be eligible to submit applications. The last date to submit application is February 20 while the approved list will be prepared by February 26 and balloting would be done on February 28. PCJCCI celebrates Chinese new year

LAHORE (Staff Reporter): PCJCCI arranged an exclusive New Year celebration ceremony for felicitating Chinese businessmen, entrepreneurs, and investors associated with the platform of Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The ceremony was presided by SM Naveed, President PCJCCI while Senior Vice president PCJCCI, Dr Iqbal Qureshi, Executive Committee members of PCJCCI including; Irfan Mehboob and Rizwan Nisar also extended their greetings to the Chinese guests. Other participants including Mr & Mrs Elton and Mr Ahmed Ma were also present. SM Naveed while addressing the ceremony said that Chinese collaboration has played a great role in keeping the trustworthy relationship intact among the two friendly nations. He said that the decision of Pakistan to join hands with China for the remarkable projects such as CPEC, One Belt, One road, AIIB, SCO and BRICS for building economic and political linkages with neighbours and Asian countries has truly been commendable.

He informed that this year PCJCCI, has taken special initiatives to bring investment from China in the eight potential industrial sectors including furniture, handicrafts, textiles, fertilizer, cement, glass work, energy and pharmaceuticals.

He said that these sectors were jointly identified by the high Authorities of PCJCCI in order to bring positive results in all aspects.

 Policy being worked out to address exporters’ issues: TDAP

LAHORE (APP): The government is working on a policy to address trade related issues, including visa facilitation, of the exporters. Trade Development Authority Pakistan (TDAP) Director General Mian Riaz Ahmad disclosed this while talking to a five-member delegation of exporters led by Ali Ansar Ghumman, President Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GTCCI) here on Monday. All Pakistan Furniture Makers Association (APFMA) Chairman Muhammad Afzal and GTCCI Secretary General Usman were also present. He apprised the delegates that he had already taken up the visa related issues of Pakistani exporters to China with Ministry of Foreign Affairs and hopefully the exporters’ trade related issues in this context would be resolved at the earliest. He added that TDAP would ensure active participation of Pakistani exporters in the China International Furniture Fair to be held in September 2018 and he was discussing the matter with Foreign Mission in Shanghai, China.

The DG also spoke about ‘Look Africa’ trade seminar being held at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) today (Tuesday). The delegation appreciated this initiative for exploring non-traditional markets for which they were already trying to start business channels.

 Dettol's influenza awareness campaign

LAHORE (PR): Dettol is a leading household name for germ protection and disease prevention, carrying out several awareness programmes for mothers, their kids and households. Staying true to its purpose of germ protection and disease prevention, Dettol set up three health camps each at Nishtar Medical Hospital, Nishtar Medical College and Nishtar Dental College & Hospital. The camps created Influenza awareness and also provided information for its timely prevention. Informational leaflets and handouts distribution was also done for better understanding of the public. Dettol sponsored hand washing units were placed at these camps to educate people on the importance of hand washing and how it can reduce the chances of several diseases including influenza. Frequent usage of a sanitizer or washing hands with a hand wash are some of the key ways of ensuring prevention. In addition to screening for Influenza performed by Doctors from Nishtar Medical Hospital, three other information desks were also spread across the complex for better guidance of people.
