KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Dr Farooq Sattar has said the party workers have elected him as a fresh convener of MQM-P in intra-party election and this decision has created disappointment in Bahadurabad faction.
Sattar expressed these views while talking to the media outside his residence in PIB Colony on Monday. Newly-elected members of coordination committee and Central Executive Committee of party were also present on the occasion.
“I have tried to move forward with goodwill gesture but MQM-P Bahadurabad group has given a clear message that they want move unaccompanied,” said Sattar, adding that attempts were made from Bahadurabad to block my way as soon as I announced visiting Bahadurabad office.
Sattar said: “Party has entered in a new era after holding of referendum and workers have given their decision in my favour. I will now run the party according to the constitution and not on the whims of any specific person.”
Criticising former president Asif Ali Zardari over his admiring remarks about suspended SSP Malir Rao Anwar, Sattar said that Zardari by terming encounter specialist as brave man clarified that he gave former SSP open field to carry out the killing of innocent people under the guise of terrorism.
He accused Zardari having hand in ethnic killing and responsible for killing innocent people.
Sattar demanded the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of Zardari remarks about SSP Rao Anwar.
Meanwhile, MQM-P spokesperson affiliated with Farooq Sattar group sharing the details of intra-party election told The Nation that during polls more than 12,000 votes were casted from which Dr Farooq Sattar bagged 9,500 votes and was elected as a fresh convener of party.
He said that members of coordination committee elected in the polls include Abdul Waseem, Khawaja Suhail Mansoor, Kamran Tessori, Qamar Mansoor, Sheikh Salahuddin, Sohail Mashhadi, Ali Raza Abidi and others. Furthermore, Tayyab Hussain, Saleem Bandhani, Nazia Ali, Kamran Akhtar, Farhat Khan, Azeem Farooqi and others were elected to the Central Executive Committee (CEC) as per the results of intra-party election.
