PTI condemns Zardari’s remarks for Rao Anwar

KARACHI - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) legislator Khurrum Sher Zaman submitted a resolution of condemnation in the Sindh Assembly Secretariat on Monday against former president Asif Ali Zardari for his complimentary remarks about suspended SSP Malir Rao Anwar in a recent interview.

The resolution submitted by PTI legislator besides condemnation of Asif Zardari’s statements in favor of Rao Anwar also demands that Zardari should apologise to the people of Karachi who were victims of Anwar’s fake “encounters”.

Talking to the media men after submitting resolution outside Sindh Assembly building, he expressed outrage and amazement over former President of Pakistan’s laudatory remarks about Rao Anwar, calling him a “brave child”. “It is appalling that a former President of Pakistan and current Co-Chairman of PPP would describe suspended SSP Malir as “brave child” given Rao Anwar’s reputation as an “encounter specialist”, who allegedly killed 444 victims of various ethnic backgrounds.”

“I ask Zardari, are you proud of such a police officer, who takes the law into his own hands and becomes judge, jury and executioner?  Instead of showering praise on Rao Anwar, you and Rao Anwar should feel ashamed,” said PTI leader.

Sher Zaman appealed to both Zardari and suspended SSP Rao Anwar to have a sense of decency and think about victims of these encounters and extrajudicial killings and show some remorse.

PTI legislator urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of Zardari’s flattering remarks about SSP Rao Anwar and direct the IG Police Sindh to conduct a search of Zardari House in Karachi and throughout Pakistan to find the missing Rao Anwar.
