‘Tala Tor’ group ringleader among others arrested

KARACHI - A bandit gunned down a young shopkeeper while law enforcement agencies claimed to have arrested at least eleven suspects including a target killer affiliated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London, here on Monday.

Two armed bandits entered in M Ali Marble Shop located in Shah Latif Town within the limit of Shah Latif police station. Police said that the gunmen held the shopkeeper Abdullah 24, hostage at gunpoint but Abdullah offered resistance, resultantly armed man shot him once and managed to flee.

The victim was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center where doctors pronounced him dead. Police registered the case against unknown assailants while handed over the body to family after autopsy.

According to the details, Sindh Rangers claimed to have arrested two accused persons including a notorious criminal associated with MQM-London identified as Shoaib aka Dompak while another arrested was identified as Sahzaib aka Sono.

Rangers claimed to have recovered weapons from the possession of accused persons. Rangers spokesperson said that the militant affiliated with MQM involved in various sort of criminal activities including robberies, extortion and another sort of criminal activities. The accused persons arrested were handed over to the police for further legal action.

Meanwhile, district city police claimed to have arrested at least four suspected gangsters allegedly involved in over two dozen cases of street crimes while Gulberg division police also claimed to have arrested an alleged ringleader of ‘Tala Tor’ group.

The four suspects were arrested by District City police during a raid conducted on a tip-off at Nanak Wara area within the limits of Risala police station.

The suspected arrested were later identified as Behram, Rizwan, Ismail and Aqib Ali. Their arrests were disclosed during a press conference held by District City SP Shahla Qureshi.

According to her, the suspects arrested were involved in at least 25 cases of street crimes, adding that the police also recovered snatched cell phones and weapons from their possession. The cases against them were registered while further investigation was underway.

Separately, Gulberg division police claimed to have arrested a ringleader of ‘Tala Tor’ group during a raid conducted on a tip-off at Samanabad area. The accused person was identified as Hayatullah. Police officials said that the accused is Afghan origin and had been involved in various cases of looting shops of clothes, cosmetics and jewellery in various parts of the city including Samanabad, Liaquatabad and Ranchore Lane areas. The police also claimed to have recovered looted stuff from his possession. A case has been registered while further investigation was underway.

FB Industrial Area Police claimed to have arrested drugs peddlers namely Syed Shaheen Abdullah and Mohsin Hussain while recovered 1000 grams of Charras from them. Police said that the accused persons used to run a narcotics den in the locality.

Meanwhile, the sacked personnel of the Sindh Reserve Police (SRP) halted their programme to march towards the Sindh chief minister house on Monday after holding a meeting with the Sindh home minister Sohail Anwar Siyal.

The SRP personnel who are staging sit-in outside the Karachi Press Club from the last two weeks demanding their restoration had announced to march towards the Sindh CM House on Monday, however, extra contingent of the law enforcers cordoned off the area to stop them from marching towards the CM House.

Artillery Maidan SHO Salman Waheed said that no any untoward incident occurred as the extra contingent of the law enforcers were already deployed there following their announcement about to march towards the CM House.

“They cancelled their programme to march towards the CM House after the Sindh home minister called them at his office to hold a meeting over their demands,” said the officer. “The Sindh home minister told that the government cannot do anything as they are sacked on the orders of the court.” The officer said that no action was taken against the sacked cops as they did not take law into their hands.
