Islamabad - Acknowledging the role of Pakistan in strengthening peace and stability in the region and eliminating terrorism from its soil, Turkey on Monday assured total support to Pakistan at different regional and international forums including the Financial Action Task Force.
The acknowledgment came at a meeting between Turkish Ambassador Ishan Mustafa Yardakul and National Security Adviser Lt-Gen (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua here at his office.
Matters related to promotion of bilateral relations, regional security situation, Middle East and Arab world issues came under discussion. The security situation in Afghanistan also came under discussion. The National Security Adviser highlighted the complex nature of the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan and the role of Pakistan to support and strengthen peace in the war-stricken country.
The envoy expressed his gratitude for the love and affection he received in Pakistan on arrival and said that Pakistan was a close friend and a brother of Turkey. “Turkey clearly recognises the security challenges faced by Pakistan today and can even relate to them. Having trouble in the neighbourhood, Turkey is also facing similar national security challenges” he said.
He also pledged Turkey’s support to Pakistan’s stance at different regional and international forums including the FATF. Janjua also appreciated the role and contribution of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the Muslim world.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the upward trajectory of bilateral relations. They reiterated to enhance bilateral engagements for extending cooperation in multidimensional spheres.
