‘World Day of Social Justice’ observed

LAHORE: Pakistan Global Initiative for Law and Justice (PGILJ) observed “World Day of Social Justice” at the Lahore High Court Bar Association here on Tuesday.

Holding a conference titled “Citizens Democratic Rights & State Responsibilities,” in collaboration with Pak-US Alumni Netowrk and Lahore High Court Bar Association, PGILJ emphasized over provisions of fundamental rights in the country.

The organization’s Chief Executive Officer Mukhdoom Waseem Qureshi said: “ Being responsible citizen of the society lets promise on this day to promote and protect democratic rights of all human being of country for eradication of injustice, corruption, unemployment & poverty by creating future voices,”.  He said that everyone needed to play his role to make Pakistan a prosper state. 

A large number of male and female civil society activists, students, lawyers, minority’s leaders and others took part in the conference.  Former Prosecutor General NAB Waqas Qadeer Dar said “under Article 1 of universal declaration of human rights,  all human being are born free and equal in human rights, they are endowed with the reasons and consciences and should act together in a spirit of brotherhood,” . 

“From education and awareness prospective world day of social justice provides greater opportunity to government, non-government organizations and all stakes holders of the society to focus on the bearer to the social well being that millions of people face because of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, cultural and disability,” said the former prosecutor.

Lahore church’s Dean shahid miraj said that promotion of peace through dialogue and exchange of idea was the need of time, because tolerant society was the only factor of change anywhere in the world and in Pakistan government should promote its through federation by launching provincial harmony campaign.
