LAHORE – The Crimes Investigations Agency police on Thursday said that they arrested as many as 14 terrorists involved in attack on Sri Lankan Cricket Team besides other terrorism incidents during the year 2011.
A police spokesman said that on the directive of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir, the DIG Investigation Ali Amir Malik and SSP Investigation Abdul Razaq Cheema, launched the operation headed by SP CIA Muhammad Umer Virk against the terrorists.
According to the official handout, he said that the CIA police have also recovered seven Kalashnikov, one suicide jacket, eight hand grenade, one pistol and 1081 bullets from their possession. During investigation six other cases of terrorism have also been unearthed against the culprits.
According to him, the CIA Police Lahore arrested six culprits involved in terror attack on Sri Lankan cricket tear near Liberty roundabout and arrested proclaimed offender Sami Ullah along with his other accomplices.
The terrorists were holding a covert meeting for further terrorist attacks alongside Ring Road near Ravi River as they had made an important building located at Mall Road as their target when the police teams raided there and arrested them.
The arrested cuprites include Abaid Ullah son of Mohsin Rasheed, Muhammad Javed Anwar, Qari Muhammad Ashfaq, Abuaid-ur-Rahman Qamar, and Aman Ullah.
Meanwhile, in a case registered at PS Badami Bagh, the CIA Police have also arrested Anyat Ullah son of Allah Ditta, Hafiz Qari Ghulam Muhammad alias Abu Sufyan son of Hakim Ali, Hakeem Muhammad Khursheed son of Muhammad Bakhsh, Muhammad Akhtar Javed son of Manzoor Hussain, Muhammad Younis son of Qari Hakeem Khalil Ullah and Muhammad Yousif son of Qari Hakeem Khaleel Ullah.
Furthermore, culprits involved in cracker explosion at Darbar and have arrested terrorist Hafiz Moaaz alias Masoud alias Akrama alias Haris son of Abdul Kareem resident of Township Lahore and recovered five CDs and banned literature, whereas terrorists were arrested form the areas of Faisal Town, Gareen Town, Towship, Satukatla, Shalimar.
Furthermore, during the year 2011 CIA Police Lahore traced 2828 cases and arrested culprits, recovering Rs. 185.8 million from them as many as 647 criminal of 176 gangs were arrested which included terrorists and proclaimed offenders having a head money of Rs 2.2 million announced by the provincial police.
