SIALKOT - Sialkot is an important economic hub of Pakistan which covers 99 per cent export production of the country.

Small and medium industries of the city are contributing $1.25 billion in foreign exchange reserves annually and strengthening the national exchequer.

Along with exceptional achievements in business, the city’s corporate sector is also fully aware of its social responsibilities as it has been playing significant role to achieve a number of targets on self-help basis.

Sports goods including footballs, hockey sticks, cricket gears and boxing gloves have always been a part of international sports events including the Olympics and world cups. Surgical and sports goods have also been playing tremendous role not only in strengthening the economy but also in providing jobs to hundreds of workers. Most of the developed countries import surgical instruments from Sialkot.

Despite several problems like power crisis and law & order situation, the local exporters and manufacturers are fulfilling their international commitments to keep the national economic wheel in full motion.

There is a dire need of government’s special attention to upgrade industrial sector for maintaining it on modern lines. There is also need of formulating a separate business plan for Sialkot to enhance the production and to meet challenges of international market.

The advanced technologies have improved the worldwide industrial production but due to lack of funds and government support, local industrial sector has remained behind in the race of this modern age. In addition to this, there is also need of establishing training institutes for producing skilled workforce for the industrial sector of Sialkot. The government’s timely support will not only help modernise local industrial sector but it also help enhance export volume to many folds.
