KARACHI - The dollar witnessed loss against the rupee in the interbank market on Thursday, dealers said. It began the day’s trading at Rs 90.19 for buying, lost 20 paisas and closed at Rs 89.99 for buying and Rs 90.04 for selling. The European currency gained strength against the rupee as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 115.33 for buying, increased 54 paisas and closed at Rs 115.87 for buying and Rs 116.07 for selling. The British pound increased against local currency as it started the day’s trading at Rs 138.48 for buying, rose 38 paisas and closed at Rs 138.86 for buying and Rs 139.06 for selling.

In the open market, the dollar recorded loss against the rupee, dealers said. It started the day’s trading at Rs 90.35 for buying, lost five paisas and closed at Rs 90.30 for buying and Rs 90.8 for selling. The Euro witnessed gain against the local currency as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 114.80 for buying, rose Re 1.

 and closed at Rs 115.80 for buying and Rs 117.80 for selling.

The British currency gained value against the rupee as it began the day’s trading at Rs 138.6 for buying, moved 50 paisas up and closed at Rs 139.10 for buying and Rs 141 for selling.
