LAHORE – Four labourers died shortly after they consumed their meal late Friday in the Raiwind police limits, investigators said on Saturday.
According to the investigators, four labourers, Afzal, Javed, Chand and Javed were rushed to hospital when their condition deteriorated after they took their meal late Friday at an under-construction site near Jodaki Villag where they worked throughout the day.
The doctors pronounced them dead at the hospital The police have removed the bodies to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating.
The deceased, aged between 25 and 40, are said to be residents of Green Town and Nishtar Colony. They were at work at the site owned by one Haji Ashfaq for the last several days.
Police investigators said that according to preliminary investigations it seemed that the labourers had poisonous food. “The cause of the death could be ascertained after autopsy,” a police official said. However, sources said that the possibility of liquor consumption in huge quantity could not be ruled out.
